Mission of BYOP
The Burke Youth Organized Philanthropists exists to engage and empower youth through learning and serving to strengthen our community.
Operating under the auspices of the Community Foundation of Burke County, Burke Youth Organized Philanthropists (“BYOP”) was created in 2016. The group consists of students representing high schools in Burke County, as well as students from recognized homeschools.
Since 2017, BYOP has provided $70,627 in grant funding to nonprofits serving children (ages 0–18) and their families in Burke County. Through an annual grant cycle, students develop philanthropy skills while gaining a deeper understanding of local needs by evaluating grant applications and making funding decisions.
